Into the gray sky
The black bird flies silently
High above the trees

He clings to the tree
Pecking holes for food storage
A woodpecker’s life

Sweet
He hops across the field
Eating the lush blue flowers
Taking his sweet time

The Dance
Music fills the air
Birds chirping in harmony
The dance of the snake

Afraid
Darkness surrounds me
It looms in the shadows there
The fierce white tiger

Waiting
I wait for the pounce
For the powerful jaws to
Sink into my flesh

Relief
But he doesn’t pounce
He walks away to find food
My relief erupts
